How Angels Fall is an AU, intermediate to advanced Divergent RP. We are set after Tris and her classmates go through their Choosing Ceremony and are arriving at their chosen factions. We use the major events of the books as a guideline for the site. So that means that what happens between major events is totally character driven.
Please make sure that you register with your characters name in Proper Case. Example: Beatrice Prior, Tris Prior, or Four. We welcome you to the site and if you have any questions don't hesitate to reach out to the staff.

What was once the Sears or Willis Tower, The Hub is the centerpiece of the city; the city's tallest and most prominent building. This is where the Choosing Ceremony takes place, where children that are of the appropriate age choose what faction they will join and delegate themselves to for the rest of their lives.
Welcome to The El. The train that moves through the entirety of Chicago and what's left of the factions. It's boarded by the Dauntless children going to school. Also by the faction members who seek out ways to get to the other factions. The train rarely slows but it never stops. One must run along side it and throw themselves up inside if they want to get anywhere. Jumping from it also encouraged.
The Pier has seen better days. At one time it used to be filled with people of all ages coming out to enjoy the amusement part and Ferris Wheel that rest on the grounds. Now it's mostly just a dilapidated homage to the metal structures. They carousel works but only barely, no one even knows if the wheel will spin or not. It's a great place to play a few games of Capture The Flag.
Standing at well over one hundred stories the Hancock building has seen some history. It's one of the oldest of the abandoned buildings still standing in Chicago today. The Dauntless use it for an initiation ritual. Wherein they take the elevator in the building to the one hundredth floor and climb up a makeshift ladder to the roof of the building, through a whole in the roof. From the roof they tie themselves to a zipline and proceed to plummet back down to the ground thousands of feet away.
One of the busiest streets in old Chicago. Michigan Avenue has seen better days, like much of the city. It's the one major street that travels throughout all the faction areas, much like The El. It will always be an important and historic location within the crumbling city of Chicago.
It doesn't matter what faction you grew up in, before you reach the age of sixteen and before your aptitude testing, everyone goes to the same school. Here you learn Faction histories and math. You learn about the different factions and how they help the society that you live in grow and prosper. It is here that you make friends or stay alone in your life. At sixteen your education ends after your aptitude test, given here, and you become a part of a faction who then picks up your education.
Ran by members from the Amity group, the hospital is there to help out anyone of any faction that needs it. It's not used often, at least not by certain factions. Broken bones are a way to get here. Don't worry though the Amity don't mind helping you out, after all its the kind thing to do.
Located near the Abnegation section, the Factionless section of Chicago is not a place that many want to hang around for long. The entire sector is run down and in a state of disrepair. Members of the faction often live together in abandoned warehouses, or on the streets. It's the perfect place to go though if you want to fall off the grid for a few hours away from your faction.
A small grey building that's only two stories high. It's the location of the headquarters for the abnegation leaders. Here they discuss politics and the crises that grips their world. They are the ones that make the decisions for how things should be run.
Drab grey homes that cover the abnegation sector of the city. To reach them one has to go through the Factionless sector of town and that can be dangerous. The houses are one to two stories in height and very plain. There's little embellishments to decorate them. To the abnegation having the luxuries in life like that is being selfish, when the money or time could be better spent helping someone else.
This is the true meeting place for the council of the Abnegation. Here the leaders meet and discuss things. They use the council headquarters only when they have guests or people to impress. It is here that each council member has an office and a specific job. They gather to discuss the upcoming events, to try to broker deals with the other factions and to discuss what to do about the growing threat from erudite.
While it's not required of a member of the abnegation faction it is highly encouraged that they attend church. It is through church that they feel they can learn more about what it means to be selfless than anywhere else. Their values and ideals are reaffirmed for all the members to see here. This is the only church in the city that is left and it is very tiny.
The streets that make up the Abnegation Sector are patchy and broken. They've obviously seen better days but the council doesn't feel that money should be spent fixing them up. That would be vanity which is not a selfless act. The busses and cars that drive along them tend to stick to the sides to avoid the patches in the middle of the street. If you choose to walk them you are safe if you walk in the middle.
Dilapidated buildings that make up the area of this place. The Amity Headquarters is amidst the fields and orchards and farms that make up the area. It's here the amity members gather to unanimously decide decisions that will affect them.
Here you can find the members of amity working on the land ato raise and grow the crops that are shipped to the other factions. Orchards as far as the eye can see take space here. Along with farms. Orange trees, apple trees and the like.
The squat houses of the Amity are brightly colored to reflect their personalities. They range in color from yellows to reds and really are brighter than they should be. They are close to the farms so that if they need be they can run out and fix any issues.
Faction headquarters for the Candor. Here they gather to discuss changes in law and the world around them. It's also where they administer the lie detector tests for the final round of initiate trainings. The building is black and white a combination of metal and glass, very much reflective of the candor colors.
Squat white and black houses dot the landscape. They have cars and luxuries that some of the other factions don't. You can see children playing with dogs and cats and other such pets. It might look drab to someone from outside the faction but these homes are perfect for members of the candor faction.
Candor is known for it's leaders in law and you can find them here. They gather here to train and study the legal ramifications of things. You will see them sitting in their black and white offices as they train and learn. If you need legal assistance this is where you would come for it.
The dauntless headquarters is located as far from town as possible. They don't want just anyone stumbling upon it. To reach it one must jump from the moving train onto the roof of the building. Once on the roof, one must jump seven stories into a hole that make up the member's entrance.
The arena is a large circular area in the middle of the training rooms. It's here that the initiates fight and show the leaders of the dauntless faction what they are made of. All fights within the arena are scored and weighted for the rankings within the group.
The training room will be one of the most visited rooms by the dauntless faction transfers. It's a huge room with wood floors that are cracked and creaky. The Arena is a painted circle in the middle of the room and a green chalkboard hangs on the left wall. They use this for score keeping and fight pairing. You can find punching bags dangling at three feet intervals across one end of the room and a table filled with knives and a large target at the other.
It's not a very large room and they don't care if you are male or female everyone shares. It's a room with ten beds. Each of the beds are bunk beds so there's really only five of them in the room. Under the bottom bed are two drawers one for each person in that bunk. On one wall is the chalkboard where the rankings are kept to remind them of who's in first and who's doing what. On the other wall is a small mirror should they choose to look at their reflections when getting ready.
One of the most dangerous places outside of the chasm for dauntless members and initiates alike. The Fear Landscape is located just beyond the glass building that is above the pit. It's a huge dank space with graffitied walls and exposed pipes. The room is lit by a series of old fashioned fluorescent tubes with plastic covers, casting an eerie glow over the area. On one of the walls the word Dauntless is spray painted in red lettering. During actual usage of the Fear Landscapes there are large screens set up for other dauntless members to watch the initiates go through their simulations. Off to the side is the large control room for the Dauntless leaders to watch the events.
The chasm is by far the most dangerous area of the entire dauntless compound. Even more dangerous than the Fear Landscape. It's located on the right side of the Pit. The floor of the chasm drops off at a sharp angle and it has very little lighting. There's an iron railing that surrounds it, in hopes that you won't actually go over. When the water crashes against it from the falls, the railing becomes slick and cold and makes it hard to hold on to. There's a river that runs several stories below the chasm with fast moving near black water and lots and lots of jagged rocks. Do not slip and fall; you will probably die.
The pit is the main area of the dauntless compound. It's a large underground cavern with uneven rock walls that rise several stories high. Built into the stone walls are places for food, clothing, supplies and leisure activities, each one of varying sizes. Each place is connected with narrow paths and steps that are carved from the rocks in almost continuous connections. The roof is made of glass panes and above that is the glass building that lets in light to the pit. Blue lanterns dangle from the walls at long intervals above the stone paths that grow brighter as the sunlight dies and the night encroaches. The paths have no railings and are very narrow.
This is one of the most used areas of the Pit. Located on a narrow path along the Pit there is only one tattoo parlor. There are books of pictures and drawn tattoos everywhere. Artwork of tattoos hang along the walls, something that seems clearly out of place since amity seems to be the only group with artists. The area is divided into two rooms, the main tattoo area and the back office.
Carved into the rock walls along the pit and the buildings there are various apartments and homes. The Dauntless live here and so do the dauntless born initiates. Depending upon your job depends on which area your house is located. Those that work in the security room live up in the glass building.
This is the building located above the Pit. It's what lets the light into the area during the day. It's made entirely of glass like the name suggests. There are ropes used for tight-walking that stretch above the top of the room. Through this room one can find the Fear Landscape. There's also an exit that leads right to the train tracks.
This area is only used during the second round of the initiations into dauntless. The room itself has very little light and sold walls. It's good for making someone feel boxed in. There's a reclining metal chair similar to the one used for the aptitude test. It's very much set up almost the same. There's a computer screen on a desk in the corner.
One of the most important areas of the dauntless compound. located on the eight floor of the glass building, the control room is where Four's job is when he's not training new initiates. The wall opposite the door is made up entirely of screens with each one measuring a foot tall and a foot wide. Each screen shows different areas of the city, including the fence, the Hub, the streets in Abnegation sector, and the ground level of the Dauntless HQ. One screen has a running line of code, in front of it, a chair and desk. Someone sits there monitoring the screens and the code to make sure everything works as it should.
The main room of the headquarters is huge, silent and smells like dust-covered pages. It's covered in wood-paneled floors that creaks when you walk on it. There are bookcases lining every well that you can find, filled with books. Computers on tables line the center of the room. On one wall is a large portrait of Jeanine, the leader of the Erudite sector. Beneath her picture is a plaque that reads KNOWLEDGE LEADS TO PROSPERITY.
One of the most unusual places to be located inside the Erudite Sector. Millennium used to be a park. It's located across the street from the library. This once park is now a stretch of barren land with several rusted metal sculptures. One is an abstract, plated mammoth, the other is shaped like an enormous lima bean, often referred to as The Bean. It's a good place to sit under for a quiet moment to think.
All of the homes that house the members of the Erudite Faction. They are blue much like the choice of clothing color by the faction. They are luxurious and often filled with things that one might considered squander. It's an adjustment for someone from abnegation to get used to an erudite house.
Erudite is known for their scientific knowledge and advancements. It's here in the labs where those things happen. From a better simulation serum to medical technology. Anything that can be used to better the lifestyles of the populace they study and perfect it here.
